Web Cam Replacement Project

Many of our long time users of this web site know of the reason I started the site some 15 years ago. Those who are here visiting the site for the first time, I started this site with my personal funds to promote the area of Island Pond VT. and the Northeast Kingdom in what the area has to offer to everyone around the world.

Over time our site grown in size and scope in an effort to bring you the user to our area to enjoy what we have to offer. Our site was one of the very first for Vermont's Northeast Kingdom and today it receives over 18 million hits a year.

As many of you know, I would like to make the site self supporting and we have begun to expand our adviser base for the site, but in this poor economic situation we are in around the world it  is a uphill battle. In addition I suffered a MI (heart attack) on September 7th. I am fine and the current issue I have is I will be out of work for 2 months or more, as my company and federal regulations require this time off until such a time after the 2 months my cardiologists and tests that are required to get back to work are passed.

It was my goal to get the "Down Town Web Cam" back up and running, by working 7 days a week for a few months in which I would than be able to afford the cost of the new camera and get it back up and running by the winter. May of you know that the old old camera was struck by lighting a little over 2 years ago. This site presently runs a little over $200 a month in expenses not including my time maintaining and yearly costs associated with software updates and license fees.

Therefore I am seeking donations for the web cam replacement.

The camera that I have chosen is a NetCam SC5 which has a HD resolution of 2592X1944. It is of a rugged design and beautiful results. We thoroughly enjoy being able to share these educational experiences and unique insights into the area with our viewers.
